Hey Little Birdie!

West Elm Bedding

So… my mind is a tricky maze that sometimes lands you in so many corners you forget where you started or even why. How do you feel about exploring this labyrinth today? Before you say, “I don’t know. It’s a Monday; that may be all I can handle in and of itself.” I promise this trip will give you a unique glimpse into the craziness that sometimes takes hold of my little noggin when trying to pin down design ideas for any given room in my house. Tempting, right?

Okay, let’s talk bedrooms, specifically mine… and possibly yours, if you want to be bedroom twins. Wow, that sounded inappropriate. Stay with me… please.

On to the maze of design thought processes. Today, I was exploring West Elm, because… well, why not? And I was looking at their bedding, which I love. See, I desperately need to change basically everything in my bedroom, and I know that bedding is one of the quickest and easiest ways to do that.

I started with this

I love the color and geometric design that is current without being in your face modern.

Then I was taken with the tufted headboard. I mean, I love upholstered headboards… I think they are classy and stylish and actually very practical for people like my husband who read in bed (Side note:  I always get sleepy in bed – like I generally don’t make it past 5 minutes without nodding off. Jealous? I understand). But I am looking for bedding, not a bed. A bed would be nice, but that’s out of my budget. So, bedding it is.

Then I started thinking about sheets. What would go with this beautiful duvet without being too matchy-matchy, but would still create layers and interest? Then I found these

It’s unnatural how much I love these sheets. They remind me of a man’s striped shirt. Layer that with a perfect tie (throw pillows) and jacket … or better yet, a vest (duvet or comforter). Come on, a man dressed up is something amazing. Am I wrong?

Anyway, I think the two might not completely work together. Ugh… and I’m not completely sold on the options West Elm shows me for those sheets. But I do think that the sheets would work with lots of options out there now, since gray has supplanted brown as a key neutral in home décor. And since gray often works with many bold colors like yellow or even orange, I feel like these particular sheets might be a great option to start my new, refreshed bedroom. Plus, my cute husband now considers HLB his personal shopper when trying to buy the perfect gift for yours truly. So there is a much better chance that these might actually get purchased for me if I post about them.

I’m not saying that I used you all for my own selfish gain. I mean if just one of you bought these too, this whole exploration into the crevices of my brain would be justified, right? This is why I love each and every one of you, or at least you… my bedroom twin.

  1. hahahaha! Jina, you crack me up. Bedroom twin reminds me of Joey’s hand twin on Friends.

I love West Elm because I love their style and I love their prices! Nobody compares!

I like the combo… but would like it more if the stripes were a little more muted/softer to go with the green pattern. Know what I mean?

  5. I agree on your choices, Josie. I always thought that second one kind of have the same look as the West Elm duvet above. And Target’s prices are crazy good.

  6. [...] yesterday I was trolling the West Elm website, cyber stalking my sheets to see if they are marked down yet. (To answer your question, they aren’t… poor me.) [...]
