Flower Hair Pins

Here’s a confession, I am seeking ways to be on the outside who I am on the inside. Does that sound deep or what?! Ha! What I really mean is, I often lack the self confidence to pull off the looks I truly love. Like giant flower clips in my hair. Or headbands. Or sky high espadrilles that would make me taller than my husband (sorry babe). I love classic, timeless styles but I also have a soft spot for vintage, retro pieces. And I usually keep that part of me hidden because I am too timid to show it. I need baby steps. Like these:

Neutrals. Fleur Hair Pins

or these:

Margarita. Hair Pins

Dainty yet slightly funky hair pins from Love, Mia. They are affordable, loved by BRIDES magazine, and heralded as well crafted, lasting accessories. Check out all the color and flower options in her shop. I’m thinking these little pretties will help me come out of my shell.

Do you have any fashion confessions? Something you’ve always wanted to wear but were too shy? Or something you wish you NEVER wore? (Cue the hammer pants, acid washed jeans, slouch socks walk of shame!)

  2. Wow! These are absolutely gorgeous! I mean, truly beautiful! Can you tell I love them or am I too subtle?

As far as fashion confessions? I wish I never found this one horrible rayon shirt in high school. (or any rayon shirt for that matter) It was my all-time favorite shirt and wore in all my school pictures my Sophomore year. It had a patchwork pattern, safari-ish type of feel in blues, browns and black. I thought it was that awesome, which confuses me because it really was that horrible. (Especially with it buttoned to the top button.) I blame teenage hormones. They obviously skewed my taste in… well, everything. ;)

Something I wish I could pull off? Hmm… well, one thing I wish would come back into style is hats. I love a good hat.

In England they do fancy hats for weddings. Some are subtle, some are outrageous. I LOVE that! Sounds like a fun way to express yourself or have an excuse to be a little nutty. I wish we would do something like that in the US! What a fun tradition. :)

  3. awesome josie! i went through a brief phrase where i only wanted to wear those sleeves button up shirts that middle america soccer moms still think are cool. blech! except i have narrow shoulders, so i would always have to fold the tops of the sleeveless part under my bra strap so they wouldn’t look like wings. hahaha! oh and i am so guilty of the alternating colors of slouch socks layered under tagged jeans. and jeans with zip, button, denim hearts, you-name-it ankles. i was so rad.

  6. Well, Nicky, I think you are doing yourself justice by getting your little girl used to the fashion accessories:) Those big flowers you put in her hair are so adorable on her, I could only imagine they’d be such a compliment to your hair and beautifully shaped face! You should try it…for her birthday…wear matching ones…then put one on yourself every time you put one on her…you’ll get used to it:) and LOVE it…I’m sure:)

  7. My fashion confession (which you already know cause I bet you were at the Wet Seal with me when we were 12 buying it…) plaid. I remember wearing a crazy plaid shirt that had like 10 different tartan patterns and then “matching” it up with some plaid chucks! WHAT WAS I THINKING????

What I’ve been up to lately in fashion is very Oregonian of me… I let Nick make my pants into shorts. I am the proud owner of lots of 7’s and paper denim jean shorts (or “jorts” as my friend Beth calls them). Oh and I layer henleys under tshirts. Cause I don’t want to wear a jacket. And beanies. I look like a wanna-be hippie most of the time. Wanna-be cause I’m dreadless. I balance all this craziness by also wearing girlie-girl dresses so I’m not a hot mess all the time.

I wish I wore heels more often in my non-work life.
