Hey Little Birdie!

Feature Post: My Outdoor Dream

In the midst of the hell known as summer here in Phoenix, visions of picnics, lush greenery and comfy casual Midwest style are dancing in my head. It may be an uncommon choice but I am determined to spruce up my backyard with an old school picnic table.

I also love the look of retro cafe string lights.

And lounging under the misters (because otherwise I would not be outside) on a classic wooden chaise. Survival tip: only purchase wood or padded patio furniture, and just say no to scorching metal.

As for the shade, I could always depend on trusty market umbrellas from my local Pottery Barn. They are a dependable standby. But I think I want to add a little pizzazz (cue the jazz hands) to my oasis. The umbrellas from Santa Barbara Designs have to be the funkiest, extraordinary ones I’ve seen. (and not too pricey either!)

And of course I’ll need to stay hydrated. I am infatuated with these flitering water bottles and their rainbow inspired happiness.

Those are just the basics. Throw in a load of flea market, vintage modern accessories and the fantasy that I could somehow grow hydrangeas and peonies in Arizona and I’m all set!

  1. When you get this set up in your backyard, please, please invite me over to lounge. ;) I love that umbrella! So fun and unique. <3
