Hey Little Birdie!

“Mad Men” Moonbeam Clock

After 4 seasons I’ve finally become a fan of Mad Men.  From time to time I’d hear about the show (mainly awards season), but it was never one I’d stumble upon while flipping through the channels or remember to record.  My husband and I started Netflixing them (is that a word?) and we are currently in season 2.

A few things I’ve learned so far:
1. I don’t relate to any of the characters or their story lines.  I’m pretty sure if I ever do connect to any character, present or future, I immediately need to rethink my short-term/life-long goals.
2. 60s style = awesome
3. AMCtv.  Story Matters Here.
4. Jon Hamm is an amazing actor.  I had only known him as the handsome Drew on 30 Rock. To my surprise I discovered that Mad Men isn’t a slapstick comedy. ;)
5. I should probably go grab myself a scotch after writing this up.

So in honor of my new Mad Men fascination I thought I’d bring us back in time with the Moonbeam Clock from L.L. Bean.  If you read the description you can see that it was first introduced in 1952, but I can definitely imagine it sitting pretty on Don Draper’s 1960′s night stand.

Now about that drink…
