I have a little globe collection going. I started buying globes to decorate my son’s nursery. I wanted it to have a travel theme, kind of a “Oh the places you’ll go” motif. He has recently started wanting to see where different people live and where places like Ohio are. I love seeing him become aware of the world and its existence outside of his little bubble. I watch his little fingers trace around the globe and just hope that some day he will travel near and far.
I recently spied a collection of globes that embodies that beautiful potential. Artist Wendy Gold created a line of vintage globes customized with whimsical artwork called ImagineNations. While I might not be in the market for a $500 globe, I just adore this idea.
