Snow Flurries from ISphotography
My shopping isn’t done, my wrapping not even started! Every year I tell myself I won’t procrastinate- yet I do! Here’s a few fun things I’ve discovered whilst in time wasting mode.
1. A couple interesting ways of telling the Nativity using Social Media. One is more serious here , one more clever here
2. Gift wrapping ideas from The Kitchn and Creature Comforts
3. Last minute gift ideas from decor8
4. May I suggest these ideas for your next holiday card? Hee hee.
For me, it will be a busy week filled with wonderful traditions like tamale making, parties and family meals but I always want to remember the real reason why I celebrate Christmas. “Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11
Merry Christmas!
Friday’s Hoot: California
After 2 1/2 years of living in Austin, Texas my family is picking up and heading back to Arizona tomorrow morning! We absolutely love this amazing city (it is beautiful, it’s fun, it’s centered around the arts) so the move is bittersweet. Long story short: while we’ve been here we learned our 2 boys are on the Autism Spectrum. They are high-functioning, but things started becoming difficult balancing therapies… needing emotional support… and chasing our youngest little girl around. We realized that we are definitely in a place in our lives where we need family support. Hooray for family! I also will be able to hang with my HLB cohorts, which I am very excited about! So. very. excited!
I wish so much that there were a cool song about Arizona, but there’s not… I’ve always loved this song by Phantom Planet and I guess California is close enough, right? I DO plan to make a trip to San Diego soon after we move, so I suppose it’s relevant. (How I’ve missed you Coronado!)
So, wait. Why in the world wouldn’t there be a cool song about Arizona, anyway?
Oh.
Right.

Now I remember.
Friday’s Hoot: Chad Vader
My husband’s birthday is coming up this weekend, so I’m posting this in honor of him.
Happy Birthday, Honey!
Plus, it’s just a fun, silly way this weekend, isn’t it? ;) Hope you all have a good one!
Liven Indie Christmas Guide
So I pretty much rebel against Black Friday. You see, I am not made with the innate skills necessary to shop in stressful times and spaces. Let me expound to prove my point. I don’t really like crowds. I hate waiting in lines. And the potential for danger as seen in those crazy big box shoppers eyes makes me want to curl up in a ball and plead for my mom to fly in using her red, glittery cape and swirl her magic wand in a valiant effort to save me from all uncertainty and imminent peril. What? Don’t tell me your moms aren’t capable of superhero wonder. I feel unbelieveably sad for each of you… and, at the same time, immeasurably proud of my super-human mom.
But back to the point of all of this, I am just not wired for Christmas shopping in the precarious post-Thanksgiving weekend. Just one of the many reasons I love this.
Live and Enliven E-Magazine’s Indie Christmas Guide. It contains gift guides, diy gift ideas, and so much more. Each page inspires me. What do you think?

This little video just makes me happy. Love is something I’m thankful for today! Enjoy the video and have a great holiday weekend!
Friday’s Hoot: Modern Family, Clown
I thought maybe you needed a laugh today.
Do you watch Modern Family? I absolutely love the show. I laughed so hard when I saw this scene – definitely my favorite so far!
Simpy Sublime Gifts
I can’t sew. I’ve never learned. But honestly I would like to. I want to take one of those classes, where a stitching professional teaches me baby-step-by-baby-step how to make my own curtains and pillows and skirts for Lyla and… you know, all those things we pay money for while thinking, “If only I knew how, I think this is something I could do”.
In the meantime, I want to get this book, Simply Sublime Gifts: High-Style, Low-Sew Projects to Make in a Snap. I hear nothing but great things about it. And if I was a person who judged a book by its cover (I am), this one would fare extremely well. Side note: my book club is reading Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton, and when I ordered my copy from Amazon, I looked through the expanse of editions available and picked the one with the cover I liked best. So, it was a little more money. I’m that girl. Like you didn’t already know that.
Back to the book, I think buying this book is my next step towards becoming a sewing expert of my own. Or maybe as the book cover indicates a “low-sew” expert of my own. Who’s with me?
Friday’s Hoot: Fredde Gredde
This is The Cartoon Medley and the most current FreddeGredde video. If you haven’t heard of him, check out his YouTube page here for more creative goodness.
My other favorites: I Still Love You and The TV Theme Medley. Enjoy!

“love on a toast” from stolenmemories
I wouldn’t want to live in a world without Nutella. I would name my next dog Nutella. If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be Nutella. I love Nutella more than pretty much anything. Okay… maybe I’m exaggerating just a bit. But it ranks up there with glitter, Martha Stewart and espresso. And if you know me, that is HUGE.
Here’s a nutella recipe that I am desperate to try ASAP: Nutella Scones
Yum.
Friday’s Hoot: The making of Ephemicropolis
I don’t care who you are, this is just cool!
